1/13/19 Ruger came from a very abusive home where his rescuer witnessed him be kicked hard in the head, hard enough that she thought it killed him at first. When she saw that she quickly scooped him up and took him home with her. However, she can not keep him and is only fostering him until the right home is found. He is very loving towards her and her family, including a baby who is less than a year old. He will take some time to adjust to a new family, due to his history. The abuse he suffered has led him to be fearful of those he doesn't know, so he will require a family who will b

e patient, loving, and gentle with him while they earn his trust. Once that is accomplished, he will reward you with unending love and devotion. Ruger is about 10 months old. He is a little guy, weighing about 12-15lbs and is all legs. We believe he is a dachshund/rat terrier mix. He has the build of a terrier, but the coloring of a dapple dachshund. He is smart and is house trained but hates being in a crate. We will be very selective of the family that adopts Ruger. We want to be sure that he only gets love from here on out, for the rest of his life. He has suffered enough abuse. He will only go to a home that will train with positive reinforcement, never hitting him when he makes a mistake. He is a special guy and requires a special family.
