About Rachel

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog

Rachel is one of the most beautiful dogs I've ever known. She is so unique with her blue/gray/black spots and white markings. She was in a high kill shelter, where she was next up to be euthanized. She was taken into rescue and has been here at our little kennel since then. Rachel loves attention and will jump on you to get it. I think once she is in her own home, where she will get plenty of attention, she will learn not to jump up on people. She is just so eager to be loved, and does not get enough attention here, she just can't help herself sometimes. I do not know what breed Rachel is for sure, but the vet she went to for her spay surgery seemed to think she is Catahoula/Whippet or Greyhound. She loves to run, and is very fast! Everyone who sees her seems to agree w/ the vet that this what she looks like. A few people have said she could have some pit bull in there somewhere, because of the shape of her head, but Catahoula dogs have very similar skull structure as Pit Bulls do, so I attribute it to that. However, if you live where Pit Bulls have been banned, Rachel may not be the right dog for you. I don't want her to ever end up in danger again.

We estimate Rachel is about 1 yr old. She weighed about 45 lbs at the time of her spay, and it is pure muscle! She is very solid and muscular. She is a fairly high energy dog, and needs a family who will allow her to get plenty of exercize and interaction with her people. Rachel is heartworm negative, current on all vaccinations, and has been spayed. She is currently located in the south but can be transported up to the northeast for a meeting w/ potential adopters, or can adopted prior to transport. Please email kelley@adoptastrayrescue.com for more details.
