10/3/13 Lollie is a beagle mix with a very sad story. She was found lying in a ditch, she was in labor, emaciated, had been hit by a car, and had been shot multiple times. It seems this poor, sweet girl had been used for torture. A good samaritan saw her in the ditch and called the rescue to come help her. Once we got her to safety, she delivered 10 puppies. 1 was still born but the other 9 survived. This poor girl had a fractured pelvis from being hit by a car, and had to deliver all of those babies. That is horrifying to me. She weighed 29lbs at that time. She also had 27 shotgun pellets lodged in various places in her body, and they all seemed to be old, so that tells us that this poor girl had been mistreated for quite some time. It was nothing new to her. Her pelvis healed with cage rest and now, about 9 months later, you would never know that she has been through so much, except for the pellets that are still lodged in her body, and the various scars that she will always bear. They are part of her now. But her emotional scars are fading, in fact they are almost completely gone now. She greets every person as if all she's ever known is love. She holds no grudges. She wants only to give her love to someone who will return it to her. She deserves that. It is a real testament to her beautiful spirit that she has been thru so much and still has so much love for people. She is amazing and the family that gets her will have a friend for life. Lollie is great with kids, other dogs, and cats. She is housetrained and crate trained. She loves car rides! Lollie would do great in any family situation. She now weighs about 45 lbs and this is a good weight for her. Lollie is heartworm free and fully vetted. She has no long term effects from the trauma she has suffered, aside from the possibility that she may be predisposed to some arthritis as she grows older. But putting her on glucosamine will help with that tremendously. Lollie is located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted.
