PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
12/27/14 These beautiful little Shar Pei babies were found in a box in a parking lot in Arkansas a few days before Christmas. We believe they are full blooded Shar Pei's, at least they appear to be. These are some of the cutest and sweetest babies! They are affectionate and love to be picked up and held and cuddled. Stella Mae is the only little girl and is the smallest of the litter. Not as wrinkled as some of the others, but still plenty of wrinkles to be adorable! Stella gets over powered by her brothers and shies away from the food bowl sometimes, so I have to feed her separately to make sure she gets enough. She is a little bit timid, I think just because she is so small. She is so cute with her tiny little body and big head! As is very common with the breed, Stella Mae's facial skin was so loose that it caused a condition called entropion, where the skin hangs so loose around the eye that it causes the eye lid to turn inward, which can rub the cornea and cause problems if not corrected. I have had surgery done on the affected eye, but it is fairly common to have to have the surgery repeated as the puppy grows. It's just something you will have to keep an eye on, as they do sometimes "outgrow" their wrinkles and the problem takes care of itself. Stella Mae and her brothers appear to be about 8 weeks old, with an estimated birthday of Nov. 1, 2014. These babies will make very good family companions, but would do best with a family who has researched the Shar Pei breed and will be willing and able to make the time commitment to properly train and socialize their puppy. People with experience with the breed will be given priority. These puppies are located in Arkansas and will be transported to the northeast once adopted. For more info, email Kelley.aasr@gmail.com. Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion.
