About Faith - 3 legs :(

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes

5/26/15 Faith is a beautiful girl who was found as a stray. You will see in the last picture that one of her rear legs was partially missing when she was found. The vet believes that she had been caught in a trap and was forced to chew her own leg off to get free. :( We have had the rest of the leg amputated and Faith is doing great now. In fact, she has adjusted so well that her foster family thinks she would be an excellent candidate for agility training, if her adopter so desired. Faith loves people and is in a foster family which includes a baby about a year old, and several other dogs. She has bonded very hard with her foster dad in particular. She does ok with the other dogs but there have been a couple of issues when the other dogs tried to eat from Faith's food bowl, and one issue when Faith was getting loved on by her foster dad and one of the other dogs tried to butt in and she became jealous. Her foster family is working on these possessive issues with her but they are a young professional family with a baby, and their time is very limited, so progress has been slow. This is what her foster mom had to say about her:

"She is an 9-11 month old Mountain Curr and incredibly athletic. She would do really well in agility. She is all go, go, go in the morning and then she crashes around 5 pm and she is OUT! lol she goes to her kennel and we don't see her again until breakfast. The negative is that she is pretty possessive of her food and her men (Can't really blame her! lol) Everything is ok until a dog tries to stick their head in her food bowl, then she'll jump on them. I've stuck my hand in her bowl and petted her while she ate, and there is no problem. She just won't tolerate another dog taking it. She also did something similar with Stephen... she jumped on one of the others when they got too close to him when he was loving on her. She has never drawn blood or left a mark, but it is still upsetting and we are working on this with her."

Faith will remain here in her foster home in Arkansas until adopted, at which time she will be transported to the northeast. For more info, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com
