PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.
2/20/16 Sprout is a tiny little man who found himself at a kill shelter in Louisiana. When I saw his picture, I just melted. Who could resist that adorable mohawk? Sprout weighs about 8lbs and he is nothing but love. He is about 4 years old and is a very calm little guy. He is currently in a foster home with kids ages 4 & 7. He gravitates to the children and loves them but did bite the little one (not a serious bite) when she tried to pick him up because she accidentally hurt him. So he needs to go to a home with children who are old enough to understand that they can't pick him up or be rough with him. The one incident was innocent - the little girl didn't mean to hurt him and he didn't mean to hurt her, it was just a knee jerk reaction to pain. He realized quickly and was very apologetic. Other than this one incident, he is quite the little gentleman. He is house trained and not at all destructive. He loves everyone, including the other dogs in the foster home. He is very much a cuddler and a lap dog. Sprout does have heartworms and we are hoping to find a sponsor for him to get him treated. The treatment will cost about $200. Once he has been treated, he will be available for adoption. We are taking adoption applications for him now and hope to have a home waiting on him once his treatment is complete. Sprout is located in Arkansas but out of state transport is available. For more info about adopting or sponsoring Sprout, email kelley.aasr@gmail.com.
